FINAL RESULTS
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. -- Meredith Langs carded a career-best, 1-over-par 73 to claim medalist honors and lead Bucknell to the team title at the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Sunday at Tumble Brook Country Club. The Bison posted a strong 306 final-round score and totaled 619 over 36 holes to easily outrun Fairfield (664) and Hartford (666) for the top prize.
Langs began the day in second place, two shots behind Hartford's Maria Loza, after shooting a 77 on Saturday. But the Bison junior fired a 73 on Sunday to clip Loza by one stroke for her first career tournament title.Â
Langs was not the only Bison to post a good score on day two. Casey Morrow followed with a 75, Erin Holmes shot 77, and six of the seven Bucknell players who made the trip finished in the top seven in a field of 21 players.Â
Morrow finished in third place, Katie Childers (79-81) placed fifth, and Holmes (85-77), Sally Sohn (79-83) and indy Sun Woo Jeon (80-82) all tied for seventh.
The Bison captured their first title since the 2016 Bucknell Invitational. Now, they will hope to carry that momentum into the Patriot League Championship next weekend at Independence GC in Midlothian, Va.
