Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Penn Challenge

LEWISBURG, Pa.—The Bucknell University men's track and field team will return to action for the outdoor season as it heads to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Challenge.

Bison Notes

Bucknell is coming off a third place finish at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, as well as several impressive individual performances at the IC4A Championships on March 3.
Overall, the team finished tied for ninth at IC4As out of 28 teams
Billy Melchionni picked up where he left off at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, breaking the school record in the 200 for the second consecutive week, running a 21.36 to finish in fifth place and breaking his previous record of 21.4 that he set at the PL Championships two weeks prior.
The Bucknell 4x800 squad of Scott Gulizio, Robert Dessoye, Owen Concaugh, and Nick Pacelli placed fifth overall with a time of 7:30.51, good for the third-fastest time in Bucknell history.
The Bison did it while battling through some adversity, with Concaugh coming into the lineup as a late sub and with three of the four runners competing in their third race of the weekend. Brett Zatlin ran a leg during the qualifying round to help the Bison reach the final.
Jeff Brown, the Patriot League champion in the 60, earned a second place finish at IC4As in the event with a time of 6.88.
The Bison will return to Franklin Field for the first time since participating in the Penn Relays in April last season.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ryquan Harris, Jeff Brown, Alex Dessoye, and Billy Melchionni placed second in the field after finishing with a Bucknell top-ten mark of 41.22, good for fifth in Bison history.
Matt Fay finished fourth in last season's section of the pole vault, clearing 15-5.

A group of Bison will head to the Raleigh Relays on Friday, March 29, while another group will participate in the Jim Taylor Invite on Saturday, March 30.
