"It's the earliest outdoor meet we have done in the last 15 years," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Typically I like to train a couple weeks after spring break before competing, but I wanted to get in an extra meet this year. It was a pure rust buster where some of our athletes looked good and many others looked very rusty coming off spring break. The colder windy weather made things tougher but it was there for everyone. I do believe we will be much sharper the next two weeks because of this meet."
Reggie Harris took the Bison's only event win of the day in the triple jump, leaping 48-9 for a personal-best while moving up to the fifth-best leap in Bucknell history. He also qualified for IC4As in the process.
The Bison were also paced by Billy Melchionni, who earned a second place finish in the 400 with an IC4A-qualifying time of 48.55 in the 400m dash, continuing his strong momentum from the indoor season.
Jordan Montero placed third in the javelin throw with a toss of 197-3, good for IC4A qualification.
In the 800, Jake Stupak returned to the track with a time of 1:53.89, an IC4A-qualifying time that was third overall.
In the 400 hurdles, Matthew Barton ran a 56.31 to finish in fourth overall, while Brendan Bodisch (5th, 56.39), and Jack Memoli (8th, 57.84) also placed in the top ten. Memoli also picked up a sixth place finish in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.81.
Ethan Dunne finished in eighth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.10. Ian Lawrence placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 6-3.75. Steven Bolger was sixth in the long jump after leaping 22-1.75.
Drew Dorflinger was sixth in the 3000 with a time of 8:34.60. C.J. Falcioni finished sixth in the hammer throw of 171-5, just shy of the IC4A standard. He also scored in the shot put after throwing 47-9.
Alex Dessoye earned a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 200 (22.82) and the 400 (49.78), both less than a second short of the IC4A standard.
Kevin Boyle scored in the 100 with a time of 11.30.
The Bison will return to action on Friday, with a group of Bison heading to the Raleigh Relays, while another group will compete at the Jim Taylor Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa on Saturday.
