Men's Track & Field Positioned Fourth After Day One of the Patriot League Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass.- Bucknell men's track & field earned one medal and notched four top ten times in Bucknell history on the first day of the Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Bison scored 12.5 points and sit fourth out of nine teams. Three Bucknell athletes earned qualification for tomorrow's finals.Â
"Proud of our crew for their efforts on day one," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. The guys brought great energy in the first flight with Braiden Pulver hitting a huge personal best to score some big points. Tacker battled through the preliminary flights and stepped up in the final round with another 19m throw to lock up another indoor medal. Love the way this group works together and competes together. Excited to finish indoor with a bang tomorrow."
Aiden Tacker christened his final indoor championship by winning bronze in the weight throw. The senior threw 64-2.25 in his final attempt to lock down the placement and become a two-time medalist.
"This truly has been a ride from never throwing the weight to being third all-time and becoming a two-time Patriot League medalist in the event," said Tacker. "The only regret I have is not breaking the school record. My apologies to Coach Donner. The younger throwers and the ones to come have a bright future ahead of them."
Pulver placed seventh with an aforementioned personal best toss of 58-7.25. The mark sits tenth in Bucknell history. His throw arrived in his second attempt.Â
Ethan Fianko had an explosive debut in the 400-meter dash preliminaries. The freshman won his heat, finished fourth overall, and qualified for tomorrow's finals with a personal best time of 47.98. His time sits fifth in Bucknell history.
Michael Chernova nabbed 2.5 points for the Bison with his sixth-place finish in the pole vault. The junior cleared 15-5.
Luke Petryna tied his personal best time of 6.87 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries. The speed earned sixth place and qualification to tomorrow's finals. Petryna also placed tenth in the 200-meter dash preliminaries, which missed qualifications for the finals, but his time of 21.56 slotted fourth in Bucknell history.
William Feddeler sits sixth in the heptathlon after four events with 2672 points. He finished second in the high jump and third in the shot put.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Hayden Singer, Adam Dicken, Carter Paul, and JP Byrnes placed seventh with a time of 7:44.47.
Ethan Knight earned qualification for the 60-meter hurdles finals by slotting eighth. His time of 8.34 edged the ninth-place finisher by 0.02 seconds.
Henry Didden missed winning points in the 5000-meter run finals by one spot. The senior finished ninth, logging 14:22.76.
Jason Lessieu joined Didden in narrowly missing points. The sophomore placed ninth in the long jump, leaping 22-1.75 in his second attempt.
Carter Paul failed to qualify for the mile finals by finishing 11th. His time of 4:08.53 was one heartbreaking second away from earning qualification. He received a nice consolation prize – ninth in Bucknell history for the event.
The Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships conclude tomorrow. Events resume at 11 a.m.
