RALEIGH, N.C.—The Bucknell University baseball team dropped its second game of the series, 14-2 to NC State on Saturday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park.
Bucknell falls to 0-2 after the loss.
NC State got on the board first with two runs starting with a leadoff triple before Will Wilson homered to right field to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead after one. NC State added two more runs in the second and third innings to take a 6-0 lead before Bucknell struck back with two runs of its own in the top of the fourth.
Dominic Toso lead off the inning with a double to right field before advancing to third on a wild pitch. After a Tyler Wincig walk and a groundout, Alex Baumann used a sac fly to left to allow Toso to score and move Wincig to third.
The next batter, Miles Moore, shot a single through the left side to bring Wincig home from third and cut the Bison deficit to 6-2.
However, that was as close as the Bison would get in this one, as the Wolfpack scored eight insurance runs over the next four frames to secure a 14-2 win.
Six different Bison mustered a hit, with Baumann and Moore posting an RBI each. Toso and Wincig each had a run scored. Chris Cannizzaro added another double for his second in as many games this season. Jack Grabek (0-1) took the loss on the mound for the Bison. NC State picked up 12 hits, and benefited from five errors.
The Bison return to action for the final game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game can be seen on ACC Network Extra, ESPN+, and the WatchESPN app.
