Maxwell Named to 2026 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior closer Hadley Maxwell was named to the 2026 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List on Wednesday afternoon. Maxwell is one of 61 relief pitchers named to the watch list for the 21st annual award.
Maxwell has put together a stellar season as Bucknell's closer where he is one of the nation's leaders in saves. The Nashville, Tennessee native has nine saves on the year to rank fifth in the nation. Oregon State's Albert Roblez leads the nation with 11 saves. Utah Tech's Ryan Kroepel, Jacksonville State's Skylar Hutto and Southern California's Adam Troy all have 10 saves. Eight players including Maxwell have nine saves.
Maxwell's nine saves coincide with a remarkable 1.40 ERA in 19.1 innings on the mound. He has allowed three earned runs on 16 hits with 22 strikeouts. He leads the Patriot League with five saves in conference play.
He picked up saves against Radford, Merrimack, Saint Joseph's and Mount St. Mary's. He earned two saves against Lehigh and saves against Lafayette, Holy Cross and Army.
Maxwell is tied for second in program history for single-season saves and is tied for fourth in career saves (12) with former Major League Baseball player, Eric Junge.
The NCBWA will announce the finalists on Wednesday, June 3, with the winner being named on Friday, June 12, at the 2026 Men's College World Series.
Bucknell is gearing up for a big 1-2 showdown in the Patriot League this weekend as Navy comes to Lewisburg for a three-game series at Depew Field at Marren Park. Bucknell (14-6 PL) lead Navy (13-7 PL) in the Patriot League standings by one game heading into the series. Army (12-8 PL) sit two games back and Holy Cross (10-10 PL) remains four games back.
