Men's Track and Field Heads to Annapolis for Patriot League Indoor Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa.—The Bucknell University men's track and field team will head to Annapolis, Md. for the Patriot League Indoor Championships this weekend looking to improve on a third-place finish at last season's meet at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

- Bucknell concluded its indoor home meet slate at the Bucknell Tune-Up on Friday evening.
- Bobby Gablein posted a strong day for the Bison in the 60 and the 200, winning both events and as well as posting two IC4A-qualifying marks. The Horsham, Pa. native shattered his previous personal-best of 7.10 with a 6.98 in the finals of the 60 to earn a qualifying time. His 22.59 in the 200 was also a season-best.
- Bucknell posted the top three times in the 800, with Brett Zatlin (first, 1:54.70) Robert Dessoye (second, 1:54.73) and Owen Concaugh (third, 1:55.50) all earning qualifying times for IC4As in March.
- Nick Pacelli also joined the list of IC4A qualifiers in the 1000, running a 2:30.25.
- C.J. Falcioni qualified for IC4As in the weight throw after a throw of 57-9 to finish in second place.
- Reggie Harris also qualified for IC4As with a 47-5 ¼ in the triple jump, a season-best for the senior from Philadelphia.
- Steve Rizio (400), Drew Dorflinger (Mile), and Matt Fay (16-6 3/4) also earned first-place finishes.
Last Year at the Patriot League Championships
- Jeff Brown broke the school record in the 60 in last season with a time of 6.81 in the prelims before finishing fourth overall with a time of 6.89 in the finals. He was also sixth in the 200 with a time of 22.56,
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Rizio, Alex Dessoye, Robert Dessoye, and Billy Melchionni won a thrilling race by edging out Boston University by .32 seconds in the final race of the meet. Melchionni pulled away from Boston University's Cameron Nurse in the final leg of the race with a 48.60 to help the Bison capture a gold medal in the event.
- A. Dessoye also had a strong race in the 400, running a time of 49.59 to finish as runner-up, and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Meet for his efforts.
- Rizio also scored in the event with an eighth-place time of 50.67.
- Harris was runner-up in the triple jump with a new personal-best of 47-9.
- Sean Conway placed third in the 500 with a time of 1:05.84, while R. Dessoye followed close behind in fourth at 1:05.47.
- Falcioni earned a sixth-place finish in the weight throw, finishing in sixth place at 59-11. Ninh Lam and Hayden Lindsey also earned top ten finishes for the Bison.
- The 4x800 meter relay team of Pacelli, Brendan McGill, Scott Gulizio, and Sean Conway earned a fifth place finish.
- Pacelli and Gulizio were also fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 1,000 meters.
- The third place finish was the highest finish for the men's team since a second place finish in 2015.
