Women's Swim & Dive Faces Three PL Foes in Annapolis

Setting the Scene
What: Bucknell (3-0, 2-0 PL) at Navy (6-1, 0-0 PL) with American (1-2, 0-1 PL) and Lafayette (0-1, 0-1 PL)
When: Saturday, October 26 – 1 p.m.
Where: Lejeune Hall – Annapolis, Md.
Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell is currently 3-0 (2-0 Patriot League) after dispatching Binghamton, 174-121, in its home opener on Oct. 26.
• The Bison won 11 events en route to their victory over the Bearcats (2-1, 0-0, AE). Eight swimmers and one relay team combined to score those victories, with Abby Merriman (200 freestyle, 1,000 freestyle) and Maddie Hartigan (100 freestyle, 200 butterfly) winning two each.
• In 2018-19, Bucknell finished dual competition with an impressive 8-1 (6-1 Patriot League) record. With their Senior Day triumph over rival Lehigh, the Bison reached the eight-win threshold for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign, when they went 8-2 (6-0 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place third (482 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (322 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships. The Bison's third-place showing at the Patriot League Championships was their best since 2015, when they were the runners-up; they were bolstered by eight medal-winning performances, including an individual title by Hartigan in the 1,650 freestyle.
• Hartigan (1st), Julie Byrne (1st), Maggie Wyngowski (1st) and Abigail Rosenberg (2nd) were Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League honorees.
• Of Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League selections, Byrne and Rosenberg were lost to graduation. The Bison also return Emma Hadley, a 2017 All-Patriot League First Team and 2018 All-Patriot League Second Team honoree.
• Two school-record holders are on the 2019-20 roster: Hartigan (500 freestyle, 4:49.16) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.98; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Emily Gorham (200 freestyle), Hadley (200 medley, 400 medley), Hartigan (800 freestyle), Katherine O'Shea (200 freestyle) and Wyngowski (200 medley) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 10 newcomers in 2019-20. They hail from six different states: Pennsylvania (4), Connecticut (2), Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.

• American is currently 1-2 (0-1 Patriot League) after dropping Howard, 157-67, on Nov. 2.
• American took ninth at the 2019 Patriot League Championships with 142 points.
• Bucknell holds a 14-1 lead in the all-time series against American and has won the past 13 meetings dating back to 2003.
• Last year, the Bison dropped the Eagles, 231-84, during their quad meet against them, Lafayette and Navy on Nov. 3 at Kinney Natatorium.
Lafayette at a Glance/Series History
• Lafayette is currently 0-1 (0-1 Patriot League) after falling to Loyola, 195-102, on Oct. 19. The Leopards host LIU Post on Friday, Nov. 8 before traveling to Annapolis.
• Lafayette took 10th at the 2019 Patriot League Championships with 68 points.
• Bucknell holds a 37-2-2 lead in the all-time series against Lafayette and has won 10 of the past 11 meetings.
• Last year, the Bison routed the Leopards, 251-45, during their quad meet against them, American and Navy on Nov. 3 at Kinney Natatorium.

• Navy is currently 6-1 (0-0 Patriot League). The Mids have won their past five dual meets, which included a 167-126 victory over Miami.
• Navy won its eighth-straight Patriot League title in 2019, totaling 941 points. The Mids went on to take first at the 24-team ECAC Championships.
• Following the 2018-19 campaign, Navy graduated Lauren Barber. The decorated Barber was a three-time Patriot League Swimmer of the Meet and won 28 gold medals in 28 career races at the Patriot League Championships.
• Navy leads the all-time series against Bucknell, 15-7, and has won 12 of the past 13 meetings. The Bison last defeated the Mids in 2013, a tight 159.5-140.5 decision.
• Last year, the Mids toppled the Bison, 214.5-101.5, during their quad meet against them, American and Lafayette on Nov. 3 at Kinney Natatorium.
