No. 15 Men's Water Polo Set for Important Game at Fordham on Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 15 Bucknell University men's water polo team will face No. 16 Fordham in a potential winner-take-all matchup for the MAWPC regular season in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

About the Bison
- Bucknell went 1-1 this past weekend, defeating Navy 14-10 before falling in a thrilling back-and-forth game to George Washington, 10-11.
- The loss by the Bison sets up a big meeting on Saturday between the Rams and the Bison. Fordham took a 17-15 decision at Kinney Natatorium earlier this year, but the Bison control their own destiny in earning the No. 1 seed and the regular season championship.
- Bucknell, which holds a 9-2 record in MAWPC games, will earn the No. 1 seed while also earning its third straight season with at least 10 wins in MAWPC contests with a win on Saturday.
- A Bison win would put Bucknell at 10-2, with Fordham falling to 8-3 overall. The Rams would not be able to catch Bucknell, with the only game remaining for Fordham a 6 p.m. game against La Salle on Saturday.
- With a win, Bucknell would earn the No. 1 seed for the fourth time in the four years that the MAWPC Conference Tournament has existed.
- In the win over Navy, senior attacker Rade Joksimovic scored his 500th career goal for the Bison from a penalty shot, scoring three times in the first half on penalties.
- Logan Schofield drew those three ejections in the first half, and is now up to 275 in his career, 37 behind Jack Else for the most all-time.
- Seven of Bucknell's eight defeats this season have come by two goals or fewer.
- Adrien Touzot has accumulated a .571 save percentage in his 16 games this season, which would be the highest by a Bison player in a single season since 2011 in which Keegan Williams posted a .581 save percentage in seven appearances.
- The freshman from Beirut, Lebanon has posted at least seven saves in his last eight appearances in the cage for the Bison.
- The Bison fell to Fordham, 17-15 in a back-and-forth contest at Kinney Natatorium on Sept. 21.
- The Bison drew 19 exclusions in the game against the Rams, but could only convert six of their 17 power play opportunities. Logan Schofield led the way with eight ejections, a season high. Andu Vlasceanu also added five ejections in the game.
- Joksimovic scored five times in the game to lead the Bison scoring efforts, while Vlasceanu (3), Schofield (2), and Jared Stanley (2) each chipped in multiple goals.
- The Bison last played the Rams in the Bronx in the second round of the MAWPC Championship on Nov. 17, 2018. Bucknell edged out a 12-11 victory as the top seed, holding off a late rally by the host Rams to move on to the championship game for the second time in three years.
- Matt Blackwell scored twice in that game along with Schofield, who had a great defensive effort with four steals and five ejections drawn. Cooper Dolan recorded a team-best five assists in the win.
- Bucknell also defeated Fordham on the road in the regular season, with Joksimovic and Jack Lewis each scoring four times in a 14-8 win on Oct. 27, 2018.
- The loss by Bucknell to the Rams this season was just the fourth in school history for the Bison, who own a 47-4 record all-time against Fordham.
- Fordham has vaulted itself into the conversation for an MAWPC regular season championship thanks to four straight wins in MAWPC play, including three straight on the road at George Washington, Navy, and Johns Hopkins.
