About the Bison
- Bucknell is coming off two straight 2-1 wins at Holy Cross on Sunday and at Northeastern on Tuesday.
- The Bison, which took the win against the Crusaders in double overtime, took the win on Patrick O'Hara's golden goal just two minutes into the second extra period. O'Hara's goal was his third of the season, with two of his three goals coming in wins (Canisius, American.), while his third goal came at home in a 1-1 draw against American.
- O'Hara has also been efficient in his scoring, as his three goals have all come in games where the sophomore from South Hero, Vt. has played 70 minutes or less. O'Hara played just 32 minutes at Canisius, and 50 minutes at Holy Cross, finding the back of the net in both games.
- The Bison are 3-0-1 in games where O'Hara has registered a goal or an assist this season.
- Finding the score sheet for the first time against the Crusaders was Jameson Railey, who converted a low shot from the left side of the 18 to the far post. Railey is second on the team in shots on goal with nine, and became the third freshman to score this season after Chris Masur and Eddie Perez-Pelaez
- The Bison have had contributions in the points category from five different freshmen. The aforementioned three have all scored at least once, while Zach Hurchalla and Mo Tall have also added assists this year.
- Masur, a freshman who earned his first career start against Northeastern on Tuesday, rifled his first-ever shot in the upper left corner to tie the game at one.
- Masur, a native of Montclair, N.J., had only made three appearances prior to Tuesday's match, but made the most of his season-high 34 minutes with the goal.
- Bucknell earned the two victories with two different goalkeepers, as Luke Smith earned the win against Holy Cross, while Emmett Witmer manned the net for the Bison against Northeastern.
- Smith, another freshman who has contributed heavily to the cause this season, is 2-3-2 in his seven starts this season, making 15 saves.
- Witmer, a senior from Cos Cob, Conn. came up with three big saves in Bucknell's win as the Huskies pressed for an equalizer late in the match.
- Matt Thorsheim, who is currently on five goals and three assists this season, scored directly from a corner kick as Bucknell took a 2-1 win, coming from behind to win a game for the first time this season. Bucknell had previously earned draws against George Mason and Colgate after allowing the first goal in the contest.
- Thorsheim is now one assist away from matching his point output from his stellar freshman season in 2017 where he scored five goals and four assists. The native of Manalapan, N.J. was a Third Team All-Patriot League, United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Northeast Region, and College Soccer News Freshman All-American selection that season.
- Hurchalla and senior defender Bernie Wright have combined for five assists this year despite primarily logging time on the back line.
- Bucknell has now scored 17 goals this season, three more than the entirety of 2018 with six games still to go in the regular season. Bucknell has also tied its goal output through the 2017 season after the game against Northeastern.
- The 17 goals through the first 12 games are the most through the first dozen games in a season since the 2015 squad managed to score 20 goals in that time span.
- Sunday's game will be an important one for Patriot League positioning, as Bucknell is currently sixth in the standings on five points. Boston University occupies the fifth spot on six points after defeating American and Colgate in its last two PL matches.
- Navy (13 points), Lehigh (13), Lafayette (12), and Loyola (9) hold the top four spots, followed by Boston U (6) and Bucknell (5). Colgate (4), American (4), Holy Cross (3), and Army (2) round out the standings.
- Last season's 2-1 loss in Boston for the Bison snapped a streak of seven straight games where the two teams went into overtime.
- Alex Clarke scored in that game as Bucknell dropped its first decision ever to the Terriers.
- Bucknell is 2-1-5 overall against Boston U, and has tied in each of its three matchups at home against the Terriers.
- Emmett Witmer was the starter in goal for the Bison in the 2017 game at home, making three saves in a 0-0 draw.
- Boston University is 3-9-1 this season, earning all three of its wins in its past three games.
About Binghamton/Series History

- The Bearcats will play Stony Brook on Saturday evening before traveling to Lewisburg on Tuesday.
- Bucknell is 5-7-2 all-time against Binghamton, most recently taking a 2-1 win in Vestal in 2018.
- Emmett Witmer posted a solid game in between the posts for the Bison, saving a late penalty to preserve the win. The senior made six stops overall.
- Bernie Wright scored Bucknell's opening goal on an assist from Daniel Hallowell.
- Bucknell will host Army on Saturday, Oct. 26, for Senior Day in the final regular season home game of the year.
