Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison's duals at Holy Cross and Boston University are their first scored competitions of the 2019-20 campaign. They opened their season with an unscored meet at UMBC on Oct. 5; first year Catherine Craig was the standout performer against the Terriers, winning the 100 breaststroke and 400 IM outright and tying two-time All-Patriot League honoree Maggie Wyngowski for first in the 100 IM.
• In 2018-19, Bucknell finished dual competition with an impressive 8-1 (6-1 Patriot League) record. With their Senior Day triumph over rival Lehigh, the Bison reached the eight-win threshold for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign, when they went 8-2 (6-0 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place third (482 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (322 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships. The Bison's third-place showing at the Patriot League Championships was their best since 2015, when they were the runners-up; they were bolstered by eight medal-winning performances, including an individual title by Maddie Hartigan in the 1,650 freestyle.
• Hartigan (1st), Julie Byrne (1st), Wyngowski (1st) and Abigail Rosenberg (2nd) were Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League honorees.
• Of Bucknell's 2019 All-Patriot League selections, Byrne and Rosenberg were lost to graduation. The Bison also return Emma Hadley, a 2017 All-Patriot League First Team and 2018 All-Patriot League Second Team honoree.
• Two school-record holders are on the 2019-20 roster: Hartigan (500 freestyle, 4:49.16) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.98; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Emily Gorham (200 freestyle), Hadley (200 medley, 400 medley), Hartigan (800 freestyle), Katherine O'Shea (200 freestyle) and Wyngowski (200 medley) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 10 newcomers in 2019-20. They hail from six different states: Pennsylvania (4), Connecticut (2), Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
• Holy Cross is 1-0 (0-0 Patriot League) after downing Iona, 165-129, on Oct. 12. The Crusaders also placed second at the seven-team Northeast Catholic Invitational on Oct. 5.
• In 2018-19, Holy Cross posted a 4-3 (0-0 Patriot League) record. The Crusaders went on to place eighth at the Patriot League Championships with 153 points.
• Bucknell is an unbeaten 4-0 against Holy Cross. The teams last met in 2007, with the Bison cruising to a 139-96 victory.
Boston University at a Glance/Series History
• Boston University is 0-1 (0-1 Patriot League) after falling to Lehigh, 185-108, in its season-opening competition on Oct. 12.
• In 2018-19, the Terriers posted a 6-5 (1-2 Patriot League) record. They went on to place fifth at the Patriot League Championships with 405 points.
• While Boston University holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series, Bucknell has won the past two meetings.
• Last year, the Bison narrowly edged Terriers, 151-148, at Kinney Natatorium. Their tight victory came down to the final two events: the 200 IM and the 400 freestyle relay. They placed four swimmers in the 200 IM's top seven, setting them up to seal their win by finishing second to the Terriers in the 400 freestyle relay.
• Bucknell posted 18 top-three finishes against Boston University and Richmond, an A-10 dynasty. Maddie Hartigan and Maggie Wyngowski combined for six of them, including four individual titles.
A Look Ahead
• The Bison host Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. for their home opener.
