About the Bison
- After beating defending Patriot League champion Boston University 1-0 at home on Saturday, Bucknell sits at the top of the table alongside Navy with the full six points through two rounds of league play. Six more points are up for grabs this week, as the Bison head to Lehigh for a mid-week encounter before hosting Army West Point on Saturday.
- Emilene Parham scored the lone goal in the win over Boston University. Her first tally of the season and second of her career came in the 43rd minute. Freshman Annabelle Heisel assisted on the play, marking her first career point.
- Freshman goalkeeper Kaylee Donnelly made three saves en route to her first collegiate shutout. The back four of Leanne Engemann, Holly Burns, Chloe Christakos and Alivia Handson were rock solid in front of Donnelly.
- Three Bison earned weekly awards this week. Donnelly was the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, Parham was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, and Burns was the Bison Athlete of the Week. Donnelly, who leads the league in saves per game (6.0), has also won two PL Goalkeeper of the Week citations this season.
- Christakos, Abby Gearhart, and Gabby Bair share the team lead with two goals apiece. Parham, Petie Nassetta and Bri Kropinack have also found the back of the net.
- Senior midfielder Ali Russo has played all 916 minutes this season. Russo, in her second year as team captain, has played in 70 career games with 68 starts to lead all active Bison players.
- The Bison are 2-0 in league play for the third time in the last four years. They were also 2-0 in 2016 and 2017 before going on to claim Patriot League titles.
- Head coach Kelly Cook is in her fifth season in Lewisburg. Cook has a 50-34-6 overall record and a 28-8-2 mark against Patriot League competition. Cook's .589 winning percentage is the highest in team history, and she needs two more wins to catch Toby Lovecchio for third-most in program history.
- Bucknell has finished .500 or better in Patriot League play in each of the last six seasons. The Bison have also qualified for the Patriot League Tournament in each of those six seasons and 21 times overall. The 21 PL postseason appearances is tied with Navy for second-most in league history, trailing only Colgate with 26. Bucknell has advanced to the championship game six times and is 4-2 in those appearances, with the league titles coming in 2001, 2005, 2016 and 2017.
- Bucknell was picked tied for fifth (with Army West Point) in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. Boston University was selected as the preseason favorite, followed by Colgate, Navy and Lehigh.
About Lehigh/Series History
- The Mountain Hawks went 2-0-2 and were unscored upon in their final four non-conference games against Temple (0-0), Fordham (0-0), UMBC (2-0) and Saint Joseph's (2-0), but Lehigh has since dropped its first two Patriot League matches to Loyola (1-0) and Lafayette (2-0).
- Lehigh has been outscored 8-6 in 10 games this season, with three of its matches resulting in 0-0 deadlocks. Kayla Arestivo has two goals, while Abby Furtmann, Chloe Sherman, Lisa Kestelboym and Ryelle Shuey have one apiece.
- Miranda Royds has handled all of the goalkeeping duties thus far and has 51 saves for a league-best .864 save percentage. Lehigh's eight goals against are the second-fewest in the Patriot League behind Navy with five, and the Mountain Hawks and Mids are tied for the league lead with five shutouts apiece.
- This will be the first meeting between the two teams since last year's Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals, when Arestivo stunned the Bison with a goal with just two seconds left in the second overtime period.
- Bucknell leads the all-time series 16-12-3. The Bison won 1-0 in Bethlehem during the regular season a year ago. Jenna Marek provided the lone goal less than a minute into the second half, off an assist from Bri Kropinack.
About Army/Series History
- Army is 3-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in Patriot League play heading into a Wednesday home encounter with Boston University. In league play, the Black Knights drew Holy Cross 1-1 on the road before falling at home to arch-rival Navy 1-0 last Friday.
- In non-conference play, Army produced wins over Albany (3-2), Long Island (2-0) and Marist (1-0), all at home.
- Army has scored 10 goals thus far, seven coming from the tandem of Alyssa Carfagno (4) and Elise Urkov (3). Lauren Drysdale, Morgan Walsh and Erynn Johns have accounted for the other three. Urkov, a freshman, earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 2 after scoring twice in the win over Albany and once in the win over LIU.
- Junior goalkeeper Sydney Cassalia has 35 saves with 12 goals against for a .745 save percentage and 1.12 GAA. Cassalia is a two-time All-Patriot League selection, earning Third Team honors as a plebe and Second Team accolades last season.
- Bucknell and Army have met every year since 1991, and the series is deadlocked at 17-17-2.
- The Bison have had the better of recent play, however, winning five straight against the Black Knights dating back to a 2-1 result in the 2014 Patriot League quarterfinals at West Point.
- Bucknell won 3-1 at Clinton Field last season, with all three goals coming on corner kicks. Holly Burns scored two of those goals, while the other was an own goal that went in off Cassalia's hands.
