Women's Swim & Dive Hosts Loyola and Army West Point

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell is currently 5-1 (3-1 Patriot League). The Bison most recently competed at the FAU Invite on Dec. 20, which was not scored.
• In Bucknell's most recent scored event, four Bison combined to capture five individual titles at the Bucknell Invitational on Nov. 16-18: Maddie Hartigan (500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle), Julie Byrne (200 backstroke), Abigail Rosenberg (200 freestyle) and Maggie Wyngowski (400 IM).
• Hartigan had a breakout performance, posting program top-10 times in the 500 freestyle (2nd, 4:50.28), 200 freestyle (3rd, 1:49.41), 1,650 freestyle (3rd, 16:50.52) and 1,000 freestyle (5th, 10:14.51). In total, the freshman reached the 'A' finals in three events and was a member of two top-five relay teams. For her efforts, she became the first women's swimmer to be selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week this season. Â
• In 2017-18, the Bison went 6-3 (4-2 Patriot League) in dual meets. They posted their most overall and conference wins since 2014-15, when they went 7-4 (4-3 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place fourth (423 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (309 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships.
• Wyngowski (1st), Julianna Foss (1st), Emma Hadley (2nd) and Lindsay Smalec (2nd) were Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League honorees. In addition, Wyngowski became the second Bison to be named the Rookie of the Patriot League Championships.
• Of Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League selections, only Foss was lost to graduation. The Bison also returned 2017 All-Patriot League picks Rosenberg (1st), Hadley (1st) and Byrne (2nd).
• Two school-record holders are on the 2018-19 roster: Rosenberg (100 freestyle, 50.42; 200 freestyle, 1:48.29) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.98; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Byrne (200 medley), Emily Gorham (200 freestyle, 800 freestyle), Hadley (400 medley), Smalec (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) and Rosenberg (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 11 newcomers in 2018-19. They hail from nine different states: Pennsylvania (3), Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia.
Loyola at a Glance
• Like Bucknell, Loyola got off to a strong start in 2018-19. The Greyhounds currently boast a 5-1 (3-1 Patriot League) record.
• At the 2018 Patriot League Championships, Loyola took sixth with 250.5 points. The Greyhounds then finished eighth at the ECAC Championships.
• This will be only the second dual meet between Bucknell and Loyola. The teams met for the first time on Jan. 13, 2017 at Kinney Natatorium.
• In that meet, the Bison won all 11 races in which it had swimmers entered to score a commanding 175-114 victory. Julianna Foss and Abigail Rosenberg led the way, winning two events apiece.
Army West Point at a Glance
• Army West Point is currently 2-2 (0-1 Patriot League). The Black Knights fell to rival Navy, 199.5-100.5 in their most recent meet and will face Lehigh before squaring off with Bucknell.
• At the 2018 Patriot League Championships, Army West Point was the runner-up with 568 points. The Black Knights' point total was the second-highest posted at the Patriot League championship meet in the past 16 years.
• The Bison lead the all-time series with the Black Knights, 18-7, bolstered by a 14-meet winning streak between 2002 and 2015.
• Army West Point stretched its winning streak over Bucknell to three with a 170-130 victory on Jan. 13, 2018 in West Point. Julie Byrne (200 backstroke), Caroline Edelman (100 freestyle), Emma Hadley (100 backstroke) and Maggie Wyngowski (200 IM) swam to first-place finishes at the meet, which was also attended by the ACC's Boston College.
