Women's Track and Field Closes Out Bison Open, Penn State National Invite

Salisbury Qualifies for ECAC's in 200
LEWISBURG, Pa. The Bucknell University women's track and field team had several impressive performances as the team wrapped up the second day of competition at the Penn State National Invite and the Bison Open and Multi.Â

At Penn State, Kaitlin Salisbury earned the Bison's top individual finish, earning a third-place finish in the 200 after an impressive showing in the triple jump on Friday. Salisbury finished the 200 in a time of 24.84, surpassing her previous personal-best of 25.06 that she set in 2018. Salisbury's 200 time now ranks third in Bucknell history and also earns her ECAC qualification, the fourth event she has qualified to date this season.Â
The Bison also had several other athletes finish in the top 10 at Penn State, with freshman Karly Forker also posting a time of 2:15.05 in the 800 to finish fourth. Teammate Gianna Mincone also finished in the top ten in the event, coming in tenth at 2:16.56.Â
Madeleine Hunt finished sixth in the 1000 with a time of 2:57.80, just a little over a second shy of ECAC qualification while Payton Capes (4:59.58) and Colleen Buckley (4:59.74) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the mile just .16 seconds apart. The two both finished less than a second shy of ECAC qualification.  Â
In the 3000, Ashley Blair finished sixth with a time of 10:04.08, while Lauren Gronbeck also placed in the top ten after crossing the line at 10:21.61.Â
Lexy Forrestal and Alexandra Butz finished eighth and tenth, respectively in the high jump.Â
Becca Rooney (11th, 59.05) and Natalie Waterhouse (13th, 59.84) posted strong performances in the 400, while Delia Sipe and Abby Whitaker finished 12th and 16th in the shot put.   Â
At the Bison Open, Bailie Rizzo finished third in the 500, crossing the line in a time of 1:20.28. Teammates Tara Lyons and Alexandra Koumas finished fifth and sixth in the event, respectively.
Olivia Dyer also placed third in the 3000-meter run, coming in at a time of 10:37.63.  Â
In the 800, Jenna Farmer earned a tenth-place finish after posting a 2:28.99, while Samantha Killiany finished fifth in the 1000 after running a 3:15.11.Â
In the mile, Emily Deschler finished in fifth, while Kaitlin Ryan, Anna Chiodo-Ortiz, and Christine O'Kane finished seventh, eighth, and tenth, respectively.Â
Shaylyn Fahey recorded a top-ten finish in the 400, running a 1:02.33 to finish ninth.
The Bucknell distance medley relay team of Deschler, Rizzo, Lyons, and Jamie Falla combined to finish third in 12:48.86.  Â
Brianna Tutuska finished in fifth in the weight throw after tossing 48-05 1/4.Â
The team will return to the track Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Scarlet and White Invitational.Â
