LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell University women's track and field team finished first at the Gulden Invitational after claiming 11 event wins and adding another school record and an ECAC qualification from Kaitlin Salisbury.Â
"Considering the pending weather and half the teams making decisions to not travel, I was very pleased with the efforts of both teams." Said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "The field events are starting to jell and develop after the long layover and the runners kind of trained through this meet to get ready for the next two weeks at Penn State and Boston U.  We are a month from the league championships and the coaches are starting to get ideas on who we want to use."
Salisbury, who already broke the school record in the long jump earlier this season, broke her own record in the 60 with a 7.61 to push ahead of her previous record of 7.62. The junior from Hawthorne, N.J. also picked up two other event wins in addition to her win in the 60. Salisbury won the long jump with a leap of 18-10, and qualified for ECAC's in the triple jump after jumping 38-7 ¾.Â
Salisbury was named the Most Valuable Female Field Athlete of the Meet for her efforts.Â
Payton Capes finished first in the 1,000 with a 2:58.92, while Tia Tardy claimed top honors in the mile with a 5:07.69.
In the 3,000, Margaret Thomson won the event in a time of 10:23.01, while Emily Deschler placed first in the 5,000 with a time of 18:39.67.Â
The 4x400 meter relay team of Harper Stewart, Karly Forker, Becca Rooney, and Tardy earned a first-place finish with a 4:04:00, five seconds ahead of second-place Bloomsburg.Â
In the field events, Lexy Forrestal earned first place honors in the high jump after clearing 5-05, while teammate Alexandra Butz cleared 5-03 to finish in second place. Butz also finished second in the pole vault along with teammate Abby Shapiro after both cleared 10-04.Â
Delia Sipe picked up a win in the shot put, tossing 44 ¾ to win the event. Teammate Abby Whitaker was close behind in second after a throw of 44.Â
Molly Montalvo, after earning a personal best at last week's Nittany Lion Challenge, won the weight throw with a 54-2 ¾.Â
The Bison will send athletes to two different meets on Friday, Jan. 25- Sat. Jan.26. A group of athletes will attend the Penn State National Invite, while the remainder of the Bucknell athletes will participate in the Bison Open and Multi. Â
