About the Bison
• Bucknell heads to Northville, Michigan, on Saturday to run in the 32nd Annual Running Fit-Detroit Mercy Titan Invitational. The Bison last competed at the event in 2016.
• Bison head coach Kevin Donner is a 1984 graduate of Detroit Mercy. He started this race in 1987 while working as the head coach of the Titans women's cross country team.
• This is the second meet of the season for Bucknell, which opened the year with the Bison Open last weekend. Connor McMenamin and Jacob Stupak finished in the top 10, taking seventh and eighth, respectively.
• Also finishing in the top 30 for Bucknell at the Bison Open were Chad Sussman (21st) and Brendan O'Toole (27th).
• McMenamin was rewarded by the Patriot League for his top-10 finish, earning Runner of the Week honors.
• After running a 6k (3.7 mile) race last weekend, Bucknell will run a 4.5 mile race at Detroit Mercy.
Bucknell History at the Detroit Mercy Invitational
• The Bison have won four team titles at the event, winning in 2008, 2012, 2014, and 2016.
• Bucknell has had one individual champion at the meet. John Dugan won in 2012.
• The 2016 title was the last time Bucknell competed at the meet. Four current members of the team finished in the top 10. Drew Dorflinger took fifth, Ben Siciliano was sixth, Brian Dengler finished ninth, and Jacob Stupak crossed the line in 10th.
Head Coach Kevin Donner Quote
"We will not be at full strength. We are being very careful with some of our athletes to make sure they are healthy to train and compete later this month. This will be a great opportunity for our depth to develop. I see this as an opportunity to race different teams than we usually see, and the course is a hilly cross country course that we like. It will be a great trip for some team bonding, as well."
Up Next
• The Bison will head to Boston to run at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday, Sept. 21.
