BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Jenna Farmer made her season debut and led the Bucknell women's cross country team with a 69th-place finish out of 362 runners Saturday at Lehigh's Paul Short Run. The Bison took 22nd out of 43 teams in the Brown Race at the meet.
Farmer completed the 6k race on the Goodman Cross Country Course in 23:06. A Second Team All-Patriot League runner last season, the senior ran for the first time after missing the first three meets of the season while recovering from an injury.
"It was a solid effort by our women," Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner said. "It was good to have Farmer back for a first-race rust-buster. I thought Emma Dolen had a breakout race, and Tia Tardy ran well in the earlier Open Race. It was a very warm day, and the course was very muddy which made for some tough conditions."
Dolen was the second runner to finish for the Bison and gave the team two runners in the top 100. She took 77th with a time of 23:20.
Rounding out Bucknell's top five runners were freshmen Olivia Dyer (123rd), Jamie Falla (151st), and Lucie Kubinski (173rd).
Bucknell, which only sent runners that didn't compete as part of its starting lineup at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown last weekend, had a score of 575, finishing just ahead of St. John's, Towson, and Florida Gulf Coast in the team standings. Siena won the team title with a score of 109.
Canisius senior Siobhan Quinn won the individual title with a time of 21:02. That was 13 seconds faster than the second-place runner.
In the Open Race at the Paul Short Run, Tardy led the Bison by taking 90th out of 368 runners.
The Bison will next run at the Penn State National Open on Friday, Oct. 12.
