Bucknell's Matt Gilray Drafted Third Overall in NLL Draft

PHILADELPHIA – Bucknell great Matt Gilray was selected by the Buffalo Bandits third overall in the 2018 National Lacrosse League Draft, held Tuesday night at Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia.
A three-time All-Patriot League Second Team selection, the versatile Gilray played close defense, long-stick midfield and short-stick defensive midfield over the course of his collegiate career. In 2018, he helped anchor a Bison defense that held 10 of its 15 opponents under 10 goals, causing 13 turnovers and scooping up 28 ground balls.
Gilray totaled 149 ground balls, 47 caused turnovers and 10 points (5g-5a) in 53 career games. He graduated ranked eighth in Bucknell's history in ground balls and twice served as team captain.
Gilray was previously among a program-record four Bison who were chosen in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Draft, being taken by the Denver Outlaws in the fifth round, 44th overall. He also helped Canada finish second at the 2018 FIL Men's Lacrosse World Championship, which was held July 12-21 in Netanya, Israel.
