About the BisonÂ
- Bucknell looks to shake a three-game losing streak when it travels to American for a Patriot League contest on Saturday afternoon. The Bison dropped their league opener to Lafayette last Saturday, while American played Boston University to a 1-1 draw.Â
- The Bison went 2-5-1 against a very difficult non-league schedule, with the wins coming against Niagara (4-1) and Towson (1-0) at home. Bucknell also drew Saint Francis (Pa.) on the road. Four of those non-conference affairs came against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season (Hofstra, Monmouth, Virginia, Saint Francis).Â
- Claire Mensi and Jenna Marek share the team lead with two goals apiece. Gabby Bair, Carly Baggott, Emilene Parham and Bailey Hurst have one apiece. Holly Burns has a team-high two assists.Â
- The Bison allowed only four goals in the first six games of the season before being touched up for 10 in the last three contests.Â
- Goalkeeper Theresa Adu-Attobrah ranks fourth in the Patriot League with an .845 save percentage, and her 6.13 saves per game are second-most in the league.Â
About American/Series HistoryÂ
- The Eagles have been the Patriot League's surprise team of 2018. Picked for last place in the Patriot League preseason poll after going 3-31-2 overall and 1-15-2 in the league over the last two seasons, American is off to a 5-1-3 start in 2018, including last week's 1-1 home draw with Boston University. The Eagles are unbeaten (4-0-1) at home and have outscored their opponents 13-6 on the season.
- American boasts two of the league's top scorers in Yari Bradfield (6-1-13) and Gabriela Maldonado (4-2-10), who have accounted for 10 of the team's 13 goals. Bradfield is tied with Navy's Baseley McCaskey for the league goal-scoring lead.Â
- Goalkeeper Ryleigh Brown has 43 saves with only five goals allowed in seven starts. She ranks second in the Patriot League in goals-against average (0.64) and save percentage (.896). Â
- Bucknell is 10-8-1 all-time against American, including four straight wins by a combined 13-1 margin.Â
- Last season at Emmitt Field, the Bison scored three times in the second half in a 4-0 win over the Eagles. Kendall Ham scored twice and Gabi Rosenfeld and Lilly Courts once apiece. Courts' first career goal came on a highlight-reel blast from about 40 yards out. Dani Kaufman made six saves en route to the shutout, while Brown had eight saves for American. Â
Up NextÂ
- The Bison are home twice next week, hosting Loyola on Wednesday evening followed by Holy Cross next Saturday at 1 p.m. Both games will air on the Patriot League Network.Â
