LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rade Joksimovic scored six goals and dished out four assists, while Cooper Dolan added five goals and Jared Stanley four as the No. 14 Bucknell men's water polo team completed a 2-0 day at the Bison Invitational with a 24-8 victory over Washington & Jefferson Saturday evening at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison defeated La Salle 23-9 earlier in the day, marking the first time Bucknell has netted 20 goals in back-to-back games since 2000.
Bucknell's 24 goals marked its most since a 24-goal output against Connecticut College two years ago. The Bison, who stretched their home winning streak to 17 games, are now outscoring their opponents 94-51 on the season. Bucknell is off to a 6-1 start to the season for the third time in the last six years.
The Bison dominated the game from the beginning, netting five unanswered goals in the first three minutes, including two by Joksimovic during that stretch. Bucknell stretched its lead to 10-2 at the end of the first quarter, 15-6 at halftime, and led by as many as 17 goals (24-7) in the final minutes.
Marko Djordjevic (1g, 4a) and Cullen Jacuzzi (2g, 3a) were key cogs in the unselfish Bison attack that featured 20 assists on the team's 24 goals. Ten different Bucknell players netted at least one goal with reserves seeing most of the playing time in the second half.
Jack Otto recorded seven saves in goal for Bucknell in his three quarters of action. Johnathan Coleman came off the bench to play the fourth quarter for the second straight contest and tallied six saves against just one goal allowed.
Joksimovic, who scored four first-quarter goals for the Bison, continues to top the team in scoring. The junior registered three goals and six assists earlier in the day against La Salle. He finished the first day of the Bison Invitational with nine goals and 10 assists. Joksimovic is now just seven goals shy of 300 for his career and is just six points (380) behind Tom Butler (386) for seventh place on the program's career list.
Will Kitsch and Dylan Gwinn led Washington & Jefferson with two goals apiece. The Presidents, who defeated Salem 14-11 earlier in the day, fell to 3-5 on the year.
Bucknell will wrap up play at the Bison Invitational Sunday with games against Fordham (12:30 p.m.) and Salem (6 p.m.).
