No. 14 Men’s Water Polo Opens Bison Invitational with 23-9 Win Over La Salle

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Scott Little scored a career-high six goals and Bucknell men's water polo posted its most goals in a game since the 2016 season as it opened the Bison Invitational with a 23-9 victory over La Salle Saturday at Kinney Natatorium. Eleven different Bucknell players scored goals, and five of them – Little, Rade Joksimovic, Cooper Dolan, Marko Djordjevic and Jack Lewis – posted multi-goal outings.
The Bison, who are ranked 14th nationally and are outscoring their opposition by 27 goals this season, improved to 5-1 with the win. Bucknell has now won 16 games in a row at home and is 43-7 in its last 50 games in its home facility.
Little led the charge early for the Bison, scoring four of his goals in the first half as Bucknell built a 16-2 halftime advantage. Joksimovic, Dolan and Djordjevic each scored three goals in the first half and finished the game with that number with the Bison reserves playing the majority of the second half. Joksimovic did tally a game-high six assists, giving him nine points on the day and upping his season total to a team-best 45. He also moved into eighth place on the program's career points list with 370, jumping over Stefan Aleksic.
Bucknell's largest lead was 21-2 at the conclusion of the third quarter. La Salle then netted seven fourth-quarter goals.
Jack Otto, who registered eight saves, started in goals for the Bison and played the first three quarters. He kept the Explorers off the board in the third quarter and combined with Johnathan Coleman to keep La Salle scoreless for a span of more than 15 minutes stretching from the second quarter to the fourth.
This was the second time the Bison and Explorers (1-8) have met since La Salle's program began in 2017. Bucknell has won those two games by a combined 44-15 margin.
The Bison will continue play at the Bison Invitational Saturday at 6:45 p.m. with a contest against Washington & Jefferson. Bucknell will also play two more games on Sunday.
