Volleyball Heads to Ohio for Matches Against Toledo and Akron

The Akron Invitational Concludes the Non-Conference Schedule for the Bison

About the Bison
• Bucknell is 5-4 after going 1-2 at the Hartford Invitational last weekend. The Bison had a win over Niagara and losses to Hartford and Brown.
• Junior Mimi Richards was named to the Hartford Invitational All-Tournament Team and has now been named to the all-tournament team at all three events in which the Bison have competed this season. She ranks first in the Patriot League in blocks/set (1.45) and fourth in hitting percentage (.370). Richards ranks 20th in the nation in blocks/set.
• At 5-4, the Bison have the third-best overall record in the conference. Only Lehigh (10-1) and Navy (6-4) have a better record.
• The Bison rank 26th in the nation in blocks/set (2.65), sitting one spot behind UCLA.
• Bucknell has had a consistent lineup this season with five players – Alexa Bonanno, Blake Buchholz, Bridgette Holland, Richards, and Sophie Bullard – starting all nine matches.
• Freshman Jennie Burke has stepped in to start the past six matches. She opened the Hartford Invitational with seven kills and a .583 hitting percentage in a win over Niagara, and followed that with eight kills and a .313 hitting percentage against Hartford.
• Holland has been solid after missing her entire sophomore season with an injury. She has three or more total blocks in five matches this season, including seven in a win over NJIT and six against Brown.
• The Bison will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the start of the program on Oct. 6-7. More details will be released soon.
Scouting Toledo
• Toledo is 3-6 after going 2-1 at the Blue and Gold Tournament with wins over Duquesne and Manhattan and a loss to Morehead State.
• The Rockets rank first in the MAC in digs, averaging 19.12 per set. Senior Maurissa Leonard ranks first individually, averaging 6.59 per set.
Series History with Toledo
• Bucknell and Toledo will play for the first time.
Scouting Akron
• Akron is 6-3 after going 2-1 at the Wake Forest Invitational with wins over Georgia Southern and Elon and a loss to Wake Forest.
• The Zips ranks first in the MAC in aces, averaging 1.89 per set. Emily Weigand ranks first individually at 0.71/set.
Series History with Akron
• Bucknell and Akron have played just one time, a 3-0 win by the Zips in 2009.
