WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Cold and damp conditions sent scores skyward in the final round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Tuesday, and the Bucknell women's golf squad finished in ninth place in a field of 15 after closing with a 338 team score.
Bucknell, which posted 308 and 316 a day earlier, finished six strokes behind eighth-place Longwood and ahead of Lehigh, Central Connecticut, Sacred Heart, Long Island, Saint Francis (Pa.) and La Salle.
Only 14 of 81 players in the field broke 80 in the third and final round. After firing a pair of 75s on Monday, Bucknell's Lindsay Dodovich carded a team-best 82 and finished in a tie for 13th place with a 232 total.
Elsewhere for the Bison, Meredith Langs finished with an 84, Katie Childers and Anna Dailey both shot 86, and Casey Morrow shot 92.
Akron came from behind to win the team title after compiling a final-round 311. St. John's was six strokes back, followed by Richmond, William & Mary and Illinois State.
Kaitleen Shee of St. John's was medalist with a 219 total (72-74-73). She was three strokes ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson's Gabriela Santini and Akron's Danielle Nicholson.
The Bison are back in action on Apr. 7-8 at the Navy Spring Invitational. That will be the final tuneup prior to the Patriot League Tournament, which will be back in Annapolis two weeks later.
