ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Lindsay Dodovich posted a 79, the second-best score in the field, in the first round of the Navy Spring Invitational on Friday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. On a tough scoring day, the Bison shot 344 and are tied for seventh place.
The start of the tournament was moved up a day due to the forecast of inclement weather over the weekend. The second and final round could be played on Saturday at starting at 10:30 a.m., depending on weather and course conditions. Otherwise it would be played on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
Playing in chilly and windy conditions on Friday, Dodovich was one of only two players in the entire field to shoot in the 70s. Julie Luo of first-place Yale posted a 73, and Dodovich is second with her 79. Five players posted 80s.
Katie Childers is tied for 14th place after carding an 83, and the Bison also counted a pair of 91s from Anna Dailey and Casey Morrow.
Erin Holmes, playing as an individual, had a good day with an 84. Graysen Bright shot 91 in her spring debut.
Yale shot 316 to grab a 17-stroke lead over second-place Towson. Quinnipiac and Navy are tied for third at 334, and Lehigh and Monmouth are tied for fifth at 339. Bucknell and Central Connecticut both tallied 344, followed by Delaware State at 376.
