WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Boosted by a pair of 3-over-par 75s from senior Lindsay Dodovich, the Bucknell women's golf team had a strong opening day at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill River Course. The Bison equaled a season best with a 308 in the morning round, and then followed it up with a 316 in the afternoon to sit in a tie for seventh place in the 15-team field.
Bucknell counted four scores of 78 or better in the first round, and the 308 matched the team's low mark set in round one of the Nittany Lion Invitational back in September.
Dodovich, whose six birdies on the day were fifth-most in the field, is T-10th after 36 holes. Her opening 75 was backed up by a 77 from Casey Morrow and 78s from Katie Childers and Anna Dailey. Meredith Langs posted an 81.
In round two, Dodovich (75) and Morrow (78) both scored in the 70s, followed by Childers with an 80 and Dailey and Langs with 83s.
At 155 total, Morrow is T-24th in a field of 81 players.
Richmond posted a 294 composite in round two after opening with 303, and the Spiders have a three-shot lead over Akron in the team chase. First-round leader St. John's is now nine back.
Bucknell and Penn are tied for seventh at 624, 12 strokes behind sixth-place Illinois State. The Bison and Quakers are seven shots clear of Longwood, and they also lead Sacred Heart (633), Central Connecticut (634), Lehigh (636), Long Island (642), Saint Francis (Pa.) (655) and La Salle (687).
The third and final round is slated for Tuesday morning.
