KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Sophomore Meredith Langs matched her career low with a 76, and senior Lindsay Dodovich carded a second straight 78 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team to a 317 team score on Monday in the middle round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic. Playing on the Osprey Point course, the Bison chopped eight strokes off Sunday's first-round tally at Oak Point.
Langs began the day with a par at the par-3 15th hole, and she really turned it on after making the turn to the front nine. She made back-to-back birdies at holes 1 and 2 and ended up shooting a 1-under 35 on the outward nine. Langs, who is a native of nearby Hilton Head Island, S.C., made 10 pars and two birdies over her final 14 holes of the day. She previously posted 76 at the Nittany Lion Invitational in the fall, and at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic during her freshman campaign.
Dodovich's success came on Osprey Point's back nine, where she fired a 2-over 38. She tallied 12 pars and a birdie on the day.
Also for Bucknell, Katie Childers posted an 81, Casey Morrow shot 82, and Erin Holmes carded an 84.
Led by a 66 from Isi Nilsson, College of Charleston compiled a 9-under-par 279 on Monday to gain significant ground on the field. The Cougars now have an 11-stroke lead over second-place Murray State. Valentina Giraldo of Jacksonville State is the individual leader at 7-under 137. Victoria Huskey of Charleston is one shot back, and eight others are within five shots of the lead.
With a 642 total through 36 holes, Bucknell sits in 40th place, two strokes behind Indiana State and five ahead of Lipscomb. The Bison will return to Oak Point for Tuesday's final round, which begins with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
