LEWISBURG, Pa.—Junior Kaitlin Salisbury and freshman Karly Forker each tallied a Patriot League Honor this Week after their performances at the Bison Opener on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Salisbury earned Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week Honors a day after earning Bison Athlete of the Week with her strong performance at the Bison Opener. Salisbury won the long jump by breaking a 20-year old school record at the meet, leaping 19-3 ½ feet to finish third behind a pair of Penn State jumpers.
Salisbury also ran the fastest time recorded at the meet in the prelims in the 60-meter dash (7.63) that was just .01 short of her school-record time of 7.62. Salisbury qualified for ECAC's as well in both events.
Forker picks up Patriot League honors as the Rookie of the week after winning the 800-meter run a half second in front of teammate Gianna Mincone. Forker's time sits just over three seconds off the pace for ECAC qualification at the moment.
Forker's time ranks second-best in the Patriot League to date and is currently 19th in the NCAA.
The women's track and field team will return to competition on Jan. 12 at the Nittany Lion Invitational.
