Women's Swim & Dive Competes at FAU Invite

Setting the Scene
What: FAU Invite
Teams: Campbell, Colorado State, FAU, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, Old Dominion, Rice, Indian River State (divers only)
Date: Thursday, December 20 – 11 a.m.
Where: FAU Aquatic Center – Boca Raton, Fla.
Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell is currently 5-1 (3-1 Patriot League). The Bison most recently competed at the Bucknell Invitational on Nov 16-18, finishing third with 1,151 points.
• Four Bison combined to capture five individual titles at the Bucknell Invitational: Maddie Hartigan (500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle), Julie Byrne (200 backstroke), Abigail Rosenberg (200 freestyle) and Maggie Wyngowski (400 IM).
• Hartigan had a breakout performance, posting program top-10 times in the 500 freestyle (2nd, 4:50.28), 200 freestyle (3rd, 1:49.41), 1,650 freestyle (3rd, 16:50.52) and 1,000 freestyle (5th, 10:14.51). In total, the freshman reached the 'A' finals in three events and was a member of two top-five relay teams. For her efforts, she became the first women's swimmer to be selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week this season.
• In 2017-18, the Bison went 6-3 (4-2 Patriot League) in dual meets. They posted their most overall and conference wins since 2014-15, when they went 7-4 (4-3 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place fourth (423 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (309 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships.
• Wyngowski (1st), Julianna Foss (1st), Emma Hadley (2nd) and Lindsay Smalec (2nd) were Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League honorees. In addition, Wyngowski became the second Bison to be named the Rookie of the Patriot League Championships.
• Of Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League selections, only Foss was lost to graduation. The Bison also returned 2017 All-Patriot League picks Rosenberg (1st), Hadley (1st) and Byrne (2nd).
• Two school-record holders are on the 2018-19 roster: Rosenberg (100 freestyle, 50.42; 200 freestyle, 1:48.29) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.98; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Byrne (200 medley), Emily Gorham (200 freestyle, 800 freestyle), Hadley (400 medley), Smalec (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) and Rosenberg (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 11 newcomers in 2018-19. They hail from nine different states: Pennsylvania (3), Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia.

Bison Travel to Florida
• Bucknell last traveled to Boca Raton, Fla. for its annual training trip in 2016. The Bison are competing at the FAU Invite this year as part of that trip.
• This will be Bucknell's first road event of the 2018-19 campaign. The Bison hosted their previous five meets at Kinney Natatorium.
A Look Ahead
• The Bison return to Kinney Natatorium in January to host Patriot League foes Loyola (Jan. 11, 4 p.m.) and Army West Point (Jan. 12, 1 p.m.).
