PL Champion Bucknell Heads to Penn State for Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships

The Bison Have Finished in the Top 10 Four Straight Years
Setting the Scene
What: Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships
When: Friday, Nov. 9 (Noon)
Where: Blue and White Course – 6k (University Park, Pa.)
Bucknell Lineup: Colleen Buckley, Ashley Blair, Margaret Thomson, Payton Capes, Nora Bennett, Jenna Farmer, Lauren Gronbeck
About the Bison
• Bucknell returns to action after winning its fourth straight Patriot League title two weekends ago on its home course. The Bison won in dominant fashion, finishing with 33 points to runner-up Lehigh's 73.
• The Bison had an impressive six All-Patriot League runners, led by meet champion Colleen Buckley. The last three Patriot League individual titles have been won by Bucknell.
• Joining Buckley on the First Team were Ashley Blair (6th) and Margaret Thomson (7th). Making the Second Team were Payton Capes (9th), Nora Bennett (10th), and Jenna Farmer (11th).
• A few days after the meet, Buckley was voted the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by Farmer.
• Bucknell is ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region, one spot behind Penn and one spot ahead of Temple. The Bison are ranked the highest of the Patriot League teams in that region. Lehigh is 10th and Navy is 13th.
Last Year at the Mid-Atlantic Championships
• Bucknell finished eighth at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Championships, led by a fourth-place finish by Christine Bendzinski.
• Bendzinski earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, giving the Bison a runner at the national meet for the second straight year. Kate Scott qualified in 2016.
• Bucknell finished in the top 10 for the fourth-straight year.
• Colleen Buckley is the Bison's top returning finisher. She earned All-Region honors with a 21st-place finish. Other scored runners for the Bison were Jenna Farmer (49th), Lauren Gronbeck (66th), and Anna Chiodo-Ortiz (77th).

"It seems we are starting to jell as a group and we want to ride the momentum coming off our best meet of the year. We are ranked seventh and our goal is to always finish higher than our ranking. We have had pretty good success at this meet the past few years and we hope to continue that trend."
