LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team placed sixth at the Bucknell Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday at Kinney Natatorium.
Chadd Cummings scored the Bison's highest individual finish at the three-day meet, which was won by defending champion Towson with 1,384.50 points. Cummings placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.13 that would have ranked sixth in Bucknell history if he didn't already own the second-fastest mark (2:00.19).
Cummings was a standout performer for the Bison. Along with his runner-up finish in the 200 breaststroke, he placed third in the 100 breaststroke and swam the second leg of the second-place 200 medley relay team on Saturday. On Friday, he was a member of two fourth-place relay teams.
Beyond Cummings, three other Bison reached Sunday's 'A' finals: Mitch Gavars (4th, 1,650 freestyle), Liam Pitt (6th, 100 freestyle) and Nick Haddad (7th, 200 backstroke).
Like Cummings, Pitt had a strong Bucknell Invitational. The freshman reached the 'A' finals in three individual events and posted Bucknell's 10th fastest time in the 50 freestyle (20.82); he was also on the same three relay teams as Cummings.
The Bison ultimately totaled 777.50 points. Towson, Davidson (1,036) and Georgetown (984) were the top three teams.
A handful of Bucknell swimmers will compete at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. from Thursday, Nov. 29 to Saturday, Dec. 1. The full team will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 20 at the FAU Invite in Boca Raton, Fla.
