Bucknell Football Hosts Fordham for Senior Day

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell football team closes its 2018 campaign against Fordham on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Before their 12 p.m. game, the Bison will honor their 17-man senior class: OL Derek Bastinck, WR Alan Butler, K Jack Chambers, student AC Cinjun Erskine, OL Pat Finn, DL Alex Jordan, S Joe Lauro, CB Bryan Marine, S Drew Newcomb, CB Fisayo Oluleye, TE/FB Andrew Owers, P Alex Pechin, S Chanse Riley, LB Matt Robinson, DE Joe Schiano, S Brice Sydnor and DL Nick Zarkoski.
The class of 2019's number includes a 2018 William V. Campbell Trophy® semifinalist (Marine), a 2017 STATS All-American (Pechin) and two players who have earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each of the past three seasons (Jordan and Pechin). Two seniors hail from Bucknell families: Chambers, a fifth-generation Bucknellian, and Lewisburg native Newcomb, a third-generation Bucknellian.Â
Tickets are on sale at the Campus Box Office, starting at $10 for adults, $6 for children (13-18) and $6 for seniors (62+). Admission is free for Bucknell students as well as children between the ages of 0 and 12. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.bucknell.edu/boxoffice or by calling 570-577-1000.
Fans who attended the Bucknell men's basketball game on Tuesday, Nov. 13 against Canisius can redeem their ticket stub or season ticket credential for a free ticket to the Fordham football game at the Campus Box Office on Saturday. • Four Bison have made at least 65 tackles: Lauro (82), Marine (78), Robinson (68) and LB Sam Chitty (67). Chitty has paced the Bison in tackles for a loss (13.5) while LB Simeon Page is the team leader in sacks (4.5).
• Bucknell is currently tied for seventh in the FCS with 24 turnovers gained on 13 fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions. The Bison are just three outside of third.
• Ten different Bison have recovered a fumble, with Marine and DE Roger Mellado recovering two apiece; Marine, Page and Robinson are tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles each. Seven different Bison have picked off a pass, led by Marine (3), Oluleye (2) and CB Sterling Deary (2).

• Bucknell football fell to second-place Georgetown, 14-3, in its final road game of the 2018 campaign. The Hoyas set a school record with their fourth Patriot League victory of the season by downing the Bison.
• RB Herman Moultrie III provided all of the offense Georgetown needed, scoring one touchdown and recording 157 yards of total offense.
• The Hoyas' stifling defense was the story of the game. They limited Bucknell to 153 yards of total offense, bolstered by seven sacks, and stalled three promising second-half drives to defend their 14-3 edge.
• In the final five minutes of regulation, the Bison twice turned the ball over on downs in the red zone.
• In his second start, QB Tarrin Earle completed 17 of 33 passes for 140 yards. TE/FB Andrew Owers (39) and WR Brandon Sanders (38) were his favorite targets.
• Bryan Marine (9), Brandon Benson (8) and Rick Mottram (7) paced the Bison in tackles. Mottram, who forced and recovered a fumble during the fourth quarter, also tied LB Sam Chitty for the team lead with two tackles for a loss.
• Marine posted 37 punt return yards, bringing his season total to 291; he moved to third in school history from eighth. He also recorded 49 kickoff return yards, giving him 589 on the year; he improved to seventh all-time among Bison from ninth.
• Georgetown finished with advantages in total offense (292-153) and first downs (16-12). In total, the Hoya defense posted seven sacks for a combined loss of 42 yards and 11 tackles for a combined loss of 49 yards.
Fordham at a Glance
• The Rams, who were picked to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll, are currently 1-9 (1-4 Patriot League). Their lone win came at Lehigh, a resounding 43-14 decision on Oct. 13.

• Fordham has been lethal in the red zone during the 2018 campaign; the Rams' conversion rate of 94.7 percent is good for second nationally.
The Bucknell/Fordham Series
• While Bucknell holds an 18-15 advantage in the all-time series, Fordham has won the past five games.
• In three of those contests, the Rams' margin of victory was less than 10 points. The 2014 meeting was decided in overtime (30-27) while Fordham blocked a last-second field goal to win the 2013 game (21-23).The Rams were ranked in the nation's top 10 at the time of both of those meetings. Â
• In 2016, Fordham spoiled Bucknell's Senior Day with a 36-22 victory. RB Chase Edmonds ran for 181 yards and three touchdowns while QB Kevin Anderson completed 17 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns. For Bucknell, RB Chad Freshnock rushed for 95 yards while DL Abdullah Anderson recorded 3.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks, career highs that stood through his entire senior campaign. Â

Bucknell 9 – Fordham 20 (Nov. 18, 2017 – Bronx, N.Y.)
• Behind three scoring plays of at least 55 yards, Fordham edged Bucknell, 20-9.
• After the Bison took a 9-7 lead with 10:49 left to play on K John Burdick's third field goal, the Rams scored two touchdowns to put the 2017 finale for both teams away.
• LB Simeon Page paced the Bucknell defense with six tackles for a loss, which is tied for sixth in FCS history. His four sacks matched a Bison record last equaled in 1998. In total, he caused Fordham to lose 33 yards during the contest.
• Bucknell forced six fumbles, recovering three. Two of Burdick's field goals came after a Bison recovered a fumble in the red zone.
• The defense allowed only 234 yards of total offense, 120 of which came on RB Chase Edmonds's pair of touchdowns. Edmonds, a 2016 consensus All-American, graduated as the Patriot League's all-time leading rusher with 5,862 yards.
• For his efforts, Page captured STATS National Freshman Player, Patriot League Defensive Player and Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades.
• Page's four sacks gave him nine on the season, a Bison rookie record that is tied for seventh overall. Â
• P Alex Pechin registered a then career-high 50.9 punting average. He landed six of his 10 punts inside the 20 and had three sail for at least 60 yards.
• Pechin became the first Bison since 2013 to punt at least 10 times a single game. His total gave him 72 on the season, which is tied for second in the Bison annals.
• Burdick's trio of field goals gave him 14 on the season, equaling Bucknell's single-season record set by Ryan Korn in 2003.
• With their victory, the Rams matched the longest winning streak posted during the all-time series, strung together by Bucknell from 1993 to 1997.

• This is the 133rd season of football at Bucknell. The Bison played their first game in 1883 and have played continuously since 1887.
• Bucknell's 2018 opponents went a combined 50-72 (.410) in 2017. Of that group, Monmouth (9-3), Colgate (7-4) and Penn (6-4) finished at or above .500. At 5-6, the Bison had a better 2017 record than seven of their opponents and matched one other's mark.
• The Bison entered the campaign with a 151-244-12 (.371) record against their 2018 opponents, including winning marks against Fordham (18-15), Georgetown (18-11-1) and Sacred Heart (2-1).
