RESULTS
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Lauren Gronbeck finished 11th out of 318 runners to lead the Bucknell women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Gettysburg Invitational. Thirty teams ran at the meet, which was held at the Gettysburg College Cross Country Course.
Gronbeck completed the 6k course in 23:27 and was one of five Bucknell runners to finish in the top 30. She was followed by Anna Chiodo-Ortiz (14th), Olivia Dyer (23rd), Tia Tardy (28th), and Lucie Kubinski (30th).
The Bison had three more runners finish in the top 50. Jamie Fallas was 35th, Kelsey Bordash took 39th, and Hope Beyer came in 49th.
The individual race was won by Hannah Dorian (Saint Francis) with a time of 22:26. That was 16 seconds faster than the runner-up. The Red Flash finished second in the team standings with a score of 57, while Cedarville won the team title with a score of 42.
Bucknell's fourth-place showing came with a score of 98. The Bison sent 15 runners to the event after having the top part of its lineup compete at the Penn State National Open on Friday.
"Our women ran a great race to finish fourth," Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner said. "It was much better than they ran at Paul Short two weeks ago. They got out hard and established their positions well and handled the mud very well. They ran well enough to put me in a position where I need to make tough decisions on our roster for the league meet."
The Bison will host the Bucknell Tuneup on Friday. It's the last meet before they host the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27.
