LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team was downed by Boston University, 182-114, in its Patriot League opener on Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.

Chadd Cummings and Liam Pitt each won two events for the Bison (0-1, 0-1 Patriot League), who were edged by the Terriers (2-0, 2-0 Patriot League) for the fourth-straight meeting. Cummings won both breaststroke events while Pitt touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. In addition, Cummings and Pitt teamed with Jack Rose and Charlie McFarland for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay.

Matt McGoey (200 IM) and Garrett Sommer (3-meter dive) also scored individual titles for Bucknell, which totaled 16 top-three finishes.

Cumming's time of 56.65 in the 100 breaststroke would have been good for ninth in the Bison annals if he hadn't already set the school record (54.65) at the 2017 Patriot League Championships. Sommer's scores in both the 3-meter dive (238.10) and 1-meter dive (247.90) would have been slotted 10th if he didn't already hold the eighth and seventh spots respectively.

The Bison next host Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. After that event, which occurs during Bucknell's Homecoming weekend, the team will host a reception for parents, alumni and friends of the program in the McGee Room.
