BOSTON, Mass. – The Patriot League champion Bucknell women's track and field team posted three top-10 school performances Saturday on the opening of the ECAC Indoor Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
Lauren Gronbeck ran the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 5,000-meter with a mark of 17:01.16, shaving over 14 seconds off her previous best.
A 4x4 relay team comprised of Allison Sharkey, Elyse Pettaway, Emily Ryan and Margaret Sliney set a top-10 program mark in the race with a time of 3:46.86, qualifying for Sunday's final.
Sarah Chandler advanced to Sunday's final of the mile, finishing second in her heat with a time of 4:50.95.
Though did not qualify for the finals of the 500m, Sharkey completed the race in 1:15.53, a new personal-record and top-10 school effort.
“Very good first day for our women,” said head coach Kevin Donner. “Lots of marks in our all-time top-10. Chandler is in good position for the mile tomorrow and the 4x4 team in the final is great for our women.”
Competition resumes Sunday beginning with the triple jump at 9:30 a.m. Running events and finals begin at 10 a.m.
