LEWISBURG, Pa. – Kaitlin Salisbury continues to put together an impressive rookie campaign, and her abilities have not gone unnoticed, as the freshman has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Salisbury helped the Bison win the team title at the Gulden Invitational, scoring in all three events she competed in. She posted her fifth victory of the season, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77. Salisbury also competed in the long jump, placing second among 26 participants with a leap of 18-10 ½.
She also scored in the triple jump, taking fifth of 21 with a distance of 38-2, which is the third farthest distance in the Patriot League. Her effort was her fourth top-10 performance in her young Bison career. Salisbury owns the school record in the 60m (7.62), while holding top-10 marks in the 200m (25.57) and the long jump (18-10 ¾).
Christine Bendzinski was an honorable mention after picking up her first win of the year in the 3,000m. She completed the race with an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:41.26, 19 seconds in front of the second-place finisher. Her time is now the fastest in the league.
A group of Bison will be traveling to Penn State to compete at the Penn State National Invitational, while another group will remain in Lewisburg to host the Bison Open. Both meets are set for Friday and Saturday.
