LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Chris Devlin and senior Louis Behnen continued to shine for the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team, combining for five individual wins in the Bison's 166-117 loss to visiting Army West Point on Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
Devlin swept the backstroke events and added a first-place finish in the 200 IM. He easily won the 100 back against quality competition in runner-up Josh Sembrano, a two-time Second Team All-Patriot League selection, finishing in 49.92. Sembrano touched the wall in 50.79. His win in the 200 back was even more dominant as he was nearly five seconds better than the runner-up swimmer from Army.
Devlin led a 1-2 finish for Bucknell in the 200 IM as freshman Matt McGoey turned in a runner-up showing.
Behnen also won against an All-Patriot League swimmer and did so in dominant fashion. He took first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:26.07, more than 12 seconds faster than Tom Ottman, a Second Team honoree last year.
Behnen took first in the 500 free in 4:32.78, nearly five seconds better than the second-place swimmer from Army.
Bucknell's 200 free relay team finished first among scored teams. Jack Robinson, Charlie McFarland, Jimmy Rush, and Vince Filippini won the race in 1:26.00.
Additional runner-up finishers for the Bison included Chadd Cummings (100 breast) and Peter Sigward (1-meter dive, 3-meter dive).
Bucknell returns to Kinney Natatorium for a meet against Lehigh on Saturday, Jan. 21. The event is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
