LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Patriot League champion Bucknell women's track and field team is set to compete at the three-day ECAC Outdoor Championships, which will be held at Princeton's Weaver Stadium beginning on Friday.
The Bison will have three runners competing in the 10,000-meter event, including Kate Scott, who won the event at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships for the second-straight season. Also running is Deanna Godby, who won the bronze at the championship meet, along with Alison Billas, who ran a personal-best to add to the team score.
After winning the Patriot League title in the 1,500, Sarah Chandler will look to improve upon her time in the event for a chance to qualify for the NCAA East Regional. Chandler won the race with a time of 4:28.02, which is a personal-record and the third-fastest time in school annals.
Christine Bendzinski will also be running in the 1,500, though is a lock to qualify for the NCAA East Regional. Her time of 4:19.99, a Bucknell school record, is tied for the 13th-fastest time in the region.
Following a strong performance last weekend at the outdoor championships, Sophia Nnadi will look to improve upon her marks in the hammer, shot put and discus events, to qualify for the NCAA East Regional for the second straight year. Nnadi reached the podium in all three events she competed in, earning gold in the hammer, silver in the shot put and bronze in the discus.
Joining Nnadi in the shot put is Abigail Brundage, who finished third at the championship meet. Stephanie Easse will also compete in the discus.
Bucknell will have four throwers compete in the javelin following their strong performance at the Patriot League Championships. Dayna Simone earned the silver medal last week, while Rebecca Skovira won the bronze. Meg Sangimino and Kasey Getkin will also compete in the event.
Jen Silvestri will look to improve upon her time in the 400 hurdles. She is the Patriot League champion in the event with a time of 1:00.69, breaking the previous school record of 1:00.82 set in 2001. Jess Bridle, who is the school record holder in the 200, will compete in the event on Saturday.
Kimberley Lapszynski will represent Bucknell in the long jump. At last weekend's Patriot League Championships, she finished third with a leap of 18-6.
Allison Sharkey, Laura Papili, Silvestri and Bridle will make up the 4x400 relay team, while Kathleen Fitzgerald, Lauren Lamoureux, Collen Buckley and Anna Chiodo-Ortiz will make up Bucknell's 4x800 relay squad.
