LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bison women's golf team resides in fourth place after day one of the Patriot League Championship at the Bucknell Golf Club. On a sunny but breezy day, Bucknell turned in team scores of 312 and 314 and sits six strokes behind third-place Boston University and six in front of fouth-place Navy.
Richmond leads the six-team field with a 36-hole total of 609, followed by Lehigh (619), Boston University (620), Bucknell (626), Navy (632) and Holy Cross (693).
Leading the way for the Bison are senior Jen Lee and junior Emily Larson, who are tied for ninth place at 156. Lee shot 77-79 and Larson 78-78 on Saturday.
Lee finished strong in her first round, posting a 1-over 35 on the back nine. She rallied from a double-bogey at No. 12 by finishing 1-under over the final six holes, including a birdie at the par-5 15th. Larson had nothing worse than bogey in her opening-round 78, and in the afternoon she offset a pair of doubles with a birdie at No. 17 and 10 pars.
Freshman Katie Childers bounced back from a morning 81 with a second-round 76, the best score of the day for the Bison. Childers is in a tie for 12th place. In her afternoon round she had back-to-back birdies at the 17th and 18th holes after starting on hole No. 10.
Sophomore Lindsay Dodovich birdied 13 and 17 in her first-round 78. She had a run of six straight pars in her second round before encountering a rough eight-hole stretch coming in. Also for Bucknell, freshman Eunbbie Kim shot 79-88, and junior Callie Nelson shot 83-88.
Adela Cejnarova of Boston University has a two-stroke lead in the individual title chase. Cejnarova posted scores of 72-75, while Richmond's Jessica Lydia is second at 149 (76-73).
The third and final round gets underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
