Men's Tennis Records 13th Win with 7-0 Shutout Over Bloomsburg

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team improved to 13-11 on the season with a 7-0 shutout win over visiting Bloomsburg on Saturday at the Bucknell Tennis Courts.
The Bison recorded their sixth shutout of the season. They now turn their attention to a key Patriot League match at Navy on Sunday. That will be their final match before the conference tournament.
Two Bucknell players shut out their opponents in singles. Senior Nick Bybel cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1, while freshman Max McDonald won by the same score at No. 6.
At No. 5, sophomore Timber Erskine dropped just one game in his 6-0, 6-1 victory. Sophomore Max Kane and freshman Andrei Vitiuc also won in straight sets. Kane was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 2, while Vitiuc posted a 6-3, 6-2 score at No. 3.
Sophomore Ben Gerber had the lone three-set win for the Bison. Playing Gilberto Machado at No. 4 singles, Gerber prevailed with scores of 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
Bucknell swept the three doubles matches despite a shuffle of the lineup. Kane and Erskine won 6-3 at No. 1, Bybel and McDonald shut out their opponents 6-0 at No. 2, and Vitiuc and Gerber were 6-2 winners at No. 3.
With just one more win, the Bison will match their total of 14 victories from last year.
