Cioffi Named Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Maria Cioffi has been named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week following an unblemished slate in four Bison matches last week. In her most recent matchup, a three-set victory over Army West Point's Carolyn Pitman, Cioffi became the program's all-time leader in singles wins with a record of 88-33.
Cioffi went 4-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles as Bucknell went 3-1 on the week, posting wins over Lehigh, Morgan State and Lafayette and a loss to Army West Point. All four doubles were played with junior Michele Urbinati.
Three of Cioffi's four singles wins came over players named to the 2015 Patriot League All-Tournament Team. She defeated Pitman and Lehigh's Christina Auyeung, both First Team selections, and Lafayette's Caroline Nixon, a Second Team honoree. She is a perfect 5-0 against league opponents this year and hasn't lost in a conference match since her freshman season.
Bucknell will be back on its home courts Tuesday when it hosts La Salle for a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
