Women?s Track and Field Picked Second in PL Outdoor Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's track and field team was picked to finish second in the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll. The Bison received 153 points and 10 first-place votes, while Boston University was tabbed as the favorite with 154 points along with 10 first-place votes.
Boston University was the runner up to Bucknell in last year's outdoor championships, while winning this season's indoor title.
Rounding out the 10-team poll was Lehigh (125), Army West Point (114), Navy (95), Holy Cross (90), Lafayette (65), American (46), Colgate (36) and Loyola (22).
The Bison opened the outdoor season last weekend at the Jim Taylor Invitational. Bucknell won eight events, while qualifying six individuals for the ECAC Outdoor Championships.
Jess Bridle ran the third-fastest time in program history en route to her 200-meter title, crossing the line with an ECAC-qualifying time of 24.70 to earn Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week honors. Sophia Nnadi earned first- place finishes in discus and hammer throws, while qualifying for the ECACs in the hammer.
Other individual winners included Jen Silvestri (400), Kathleen Fitzgerald, (800) and Margaret Thomson (3000 steeplechase). It was a solid weekend for the Bison relay squads, as they earned first-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay events.
The Bison are currently in action this weekend at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William and Mary.
