Baseball Makes Trip to Saint Joseph's for Wednesday Game

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell baseball team will hit the road for a contest at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Smithson Field. It is the final non-league game for the Bison before opening Patriot League play against Lehigh at home this weekend.
Bucknell (9-15) is coming off a four-game series split against Yale. The Bulldogs won game one of doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday at Depew Field, while the Bison won the nightcap both days.
Saint Joseph's (9-10, 2-1 Atlantic 10) won two of three at Richmond this past weekend and has a game at Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon.
Bucknell is 4-5 all-time against Saint Joseph's. The Hawks won the Bison's home opener last year by a 9-2 score. Bucknell's last win in the series came in 2012 when it claimed the first two games of a four-game series at Smithson Field.
Bucknell is hitting .261 on the year and owns a 5.41 ERA. Jon Mayer brings a team-best four-game hitting streak into Wednesday's contest, while Danny Rafferty has reached base in 14 straight games.
Saint Joseph's is hitting .253 and has a 4.63 ERA. The Hawks have hit 16 home runs this season to rank third in the Atlantic 10, including a conference-most eight home runs by Deon Stafford, Jr.
All four games of this weekend's home series vs. Lehigh will be broadcast on WVBU 90.5 FM and BucknellBison.com. Doubleheaders are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday at noon.
