Women's Water Polo Posts 11-4 Win Over Mercyhurst on Senior Day

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Seniors Eleanor Marrs and Hannah Sunday scored three goals apiece to lead the Bucknell women's water polo team to an 11-4 victory over Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. With the victory, the Bison improve to 12-11 overall on the year and extends their win streak over the Lakers to 11 games.
Marrs, who leads the team in assists, added three helpers to boost her season total to 46. She filled up the stat sheet, drawing an ejection while also recording a field block.
Emily Konishi scored two goals for the Bison, while Colleen Barron, Kendyl Johnson and Martine McCarthy added one goal apiece.
Holding a 4-2 lead at halftime, the Bison pulled away with four goals in the third quarter and three goals in the fourth.
Prior to the game, the Bucknell women's water polo program honored its four seniors: Marrs, Sunday, McCarthy and Katherine DeRuff.
Both Sunday and DeRuff drew two ejections each in the contest. Sunday also recorded a steal while DeRuff tallied an assist.
Bucknell opens league play on Apr. 9 when it travels down to Washington D.C. for games against Hartwick and Brown.
