Women's Water Polo Completes 2-0 Day With 17-5 Victory Over Gannon

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Emily Konishi scored a career-high four goals and was one of 11 Bison goal scorers in a 17-5 victory over Gannon Saturday evening at Kinney Natatorium. It was the final game of the day at the Bison Invitational, which will feature five more contests on Sunday.
Bucknell (6-4) opened the day with a 13-7 win over George Washington and kept that momentum going in the win over the Golden Knights. It was the fifth consecutive victory for the Bison, who reached double figures in goals for the fourth time during their win streak.
Bucknell led 7-1 at halftime and 14-2 after three periods. The Bison used a strong defense that posted a season-high 27 steals to limit Gannon's (2-5) scoring opportunities. Shyla Lintz, Konishi and Marta Considine each had a team-high four steals in the contest.
Bison goalie Haley Derrod recorded a career-high 12 saves in the winning effort. It marked her second career double-figure save performance.
Konishi dished out two assists to go along with her four goals, giving her a team-high six points. Eliza Romeyn, Martine McCarthy and Considine registered two goals apiece. Bucknell's bench totaled nine of the team's 17 goals.
The Bison where whistled for just one ejection in the game.
Bucknell, which is ranked 25th nationally, will wrap up play at the Bison Invitational Sunday with games against No. 20 Wagner at 9:30 a.m. and VMI at 2 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
