BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell men's track and field team concluded its final day of competition at the Patriot League Indoor Championships Sunday at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center, finishing fourth overall.
Navy tallied 225 points to run away with the team title. Boston University was second with 195 points, while Army West Point took third with 140 points followed by Bucknell with 107.
“This team fought and clawed the entire meet,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “Our depth is not as good as previous years, but to score over 100 points in a rebuilding year is a credit to our team. We will now regroup to figure out an IC4A plan as well as prepare for outdoors.”
Grant Reynolds earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles. His time of 8.12 is a personal-best and is tied for the third-best effort in school history. Reynolds also scored in 400m dash, taking sixth in the event.
Joseph Breen took third-place in the shot put, recording a heave of 54-8.
In the 800, Scott Gulizio scored with a fourth-place finish. Gulizio crossed the line in 1:51.54, which is a personal-record and ranks fourth in program history.
Jacob Ashkettle, Anthony Menza and Griffin Robertson each scored for the Bison, finishing, fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 500. The times posted by Ashkettle (1:04.95) and Robertson (1:05.24) are personal bests. John Westwood scored in his two events of the day, taking sixth in the mile and seventh in the 1,000.
In the 4x400 relay, a quartet of Ashkettle, Robertson, Reynolds and Menza took fourth overall with a time of 3:19.0. Kyle Adams, Daniel Gevirtz, Gulizio and Ross Pirnie placed sixth in the distance medley relay, crossing the line with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 10:11.98.
Matthew Fay (pole vault), Reggie Harris (triple jump) and Luke Giugliano (3,000) added to the Bison score, earning fifth-place finishes in their respective events.
Members of the team will return to action on Mar. 5-6 with a return trip to Boston, Massachusetts, to compete in the IC4A Indoor Championships.
