Bison Men In 2nd at Patriot League Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell men's track and field team wrapped up its second day of events at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Boston University. The Bison are in second place behind Army West Point with plenty of points to grab on Sunday.
Nicholas Lombardo earned the silver medal in the high jump, recording a leap of 6-10 ¾. Lombardo was also the runner-up in the long jump with a jump of 24-0 ¾. His mark is a personal-best and ranks third in program history.
A team of Jordan Jackson, Ryan Johnson, Scott Gulizio and John Westwood took the bronze medal in the 4x800-meter relay, crossing the line with an IC4A-qualifying time of 7:33.32. The performance ranks sixth in school history.
Olu Shoyoye (55-4 ¾) and Mark Stafurik (54-6 ½) combined to add five points to the team score, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 35-pound weight throw.
Luke Giugliano scored three points for the Bison, taking sixth in the 5000m with a time of 14:29.43, a new personal-record.
The final three events of the heptathlon were held on Saturday morning, and Cody Haupt took third with a new PR of 4,652 points, which ranks fifth in school annals. Adam Karl finished sixth, bumping up his PR with a total of 4,377 points, which is a top-10 mark in program history.
Griffin Robertson (200m) and Grant Reynolds (60m) qualified to compete in the finals of their respective event on Sunday.
"Overall, it was a very nice day for our men," says head coach Kevin Donner. We were at, or exceeded, pre-meet expectations in each event. Now we have to use this momentum to get through tomorrow."
The championship meet concludes on Sunday with points in 14 events up for grabs.
