BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Emily Larson shot a 4-over 76 in round two to headline Bucknell's spring debut the Bison at Boulder Creek tournament outside Las Vegas. The Bison escaped the frigid temperatures of Pennsylvania for the desert, and they opened with rounds of 332 and 328 on Monday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Larson's 76, one stroke shy of her best round of the full season to date, was a seven-shot improvement from her first round. It was one of two rounds in the 70s on the day for Bucknell, as freshman Katie Childers led the way in round one with a 79. She followed with an 87 in the afternoon.
Larson's 36-hole total of 159 puts her in a tie for 19th place. Jen Lee is next at 163 (83-80).
Elsewhere for Bucknell, Eunbbie Kim shot 88-85, and Callie Nelson posted 87-93 in her first rounds of the year.
Northern Arizona has the team lead with a 614 total (315-299). First-round leader Charleston Southern is now second at 619, followed by Portland State (629), Southern Utah (630), Weber State (634), Utah Valley (635), Alabama State (645) and Bucknell (660).
Charleston Southern's Hayley McNeill and Portland State's Alyssa Waite are tied for the individual lead at 3-over 147. Both players shot 75-72. Nicole Thomas of Southern Utah is one shot back.
The third and final round will be held on Tuesday morning.
