Track and Field Returns to Action in 2016 on Saturday at the Penn State Relays

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After a month-long break since the Bison Opener, the Bucknell men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Saturday as they travel to University Park for the Penn State Relays. The event will broadcast on Flotrack.org.
The 12-team event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Horace Ashenfelter III Track. Set to compete in the field are Army West Point, Bowie State, Iowa State, Maryland, Norfolk State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Robert Morris, St. Francis, St. Joseph's and UMBC.
Led by a school record in the 300-meter dash by senior Jess Bridle, the Bucknell women had four individual winners in the season's kickoff event, the Bison Opener, all the way back on Dec. 4-5. Joining Bridle with individual titles were Kafilat Oladiran (200m, 60H), Laura Papili (500m) and Seline Tan-Torres (800m).
The quartet of Bridle, Jen Silvestri, Allison Sharkey and Elyse Pettaway won the 4x400 relay title, while qualifying for the ECAC Indoor Championships with a time of 3:54.84.
The Bison men had four individual champions and five IC4A qualifiers. Winners included Christopher D'Aliso (heptathlon), Matthew Fay (pole vault), David Frering (mile), Nicholas Lombardo (long jump) and Maxwell Prizant (pole vault).
Fay, Lombardo and Prizant each qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championships, along with Joseph Breen (shot put) and Scott Gulizio (800m).
Following Saturday's meet, the Bison return to action on Jan. 23, when they host the Gulden Invitational.
