ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Rachel McGoff, Emma Levendoski and Leah Bloodgood all won individual events to lead the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team at the Navy Invite on Saturday at Lejeune Hall. The meet was unscored, and the Bison took the opportunity to have many of their swimmers compete in secondary events.
The Bucknell divers found success on the 1-meter board. Lara Curtis was second with a score of 249.40, good enough for eighth on the program's all-time list, while Tally Ford was third with a mark of 245.25.
McGoff led a 1-2 finish by the Bison in the 200 free, finishing first out of 30 swimmers with a time of 1:57.02. Hanson touched the wall immediately after her, clocking in at 1:57.15, while Lindsay Smalec took fifth.
Bloodgood easily won the 200 breast in a field of 14 swimmers. Her time of 2:26.84 was more than two seconds faster than the second-place swimmer, Loyola's Arianna Dean. Levendoski's win came in the 200 back, where she finished first out of 25 with a time of 2:01.85. Rachel Perry was fourth in the event.
Levendoski was a two-event winner on the day, as she joined Hanson, Julianna Foss and Abigail Rosenberg to take first in the 200 medley relay. The group bested 28 other teams with a time of 1:48.33, narrowly edging a team from Seton Hall's time of 1:48.86.
Hanson and Bloodgood were second and third, respectively, in the 100 breast, finishing a half of a second apart. Hanson touched the wall in 1:07.38, while Bloodgood came in at 1:07.88.
Bishop added a runner-up showing out of a large field of 52 swimmers in the 200 IM and was third in an even bigger field of 92 swimmers in the 50 free. Foss contributed a third-place finish in the 100 fly.
Bucknell now turns its attention to the Patriot League Championships, which will also be held at Navy. The conference meet is scheduled for Feb. 17-20.
