Bison Women Break Program's DMR Record

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – A relay made up of Christine Bendzinski, Jess Bridle, Sarah Chandler and Emma Harris broke the school record in the distance medley relay on Friday night at the Penn State Invitational. The group finished third with a time of 11:34.61, topping the previous record set in 2002 (11:35.10).
Individually, junior Kate Scott took sixth out of 21 runners in the 5,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 17:14.90.
18th Annual Bison Opener
LEWISBURG, Pa. – It was a great opening day for the Bucknell throwers, as senior Abigail Brundage and freshman Molly Montalvo won their respective sections in the shot put at the Bison Opener. Brundage beat out 11 throwers with a heave of 45-10, while Montalvo won her flight with a toss of 38-2.
Alison Varano took third after four events in the pentathlon. The sophomore was the top-finisher in her section of the 60-meter hurdles, while finishing as the runner-up in the long jump and 800-meter run.
Varano tallied 3,091 points, only to trail Seton Hill's Angela McCowin (3,151) and first-place Reilly Wagner from Misericordia.
Freshman Morgan Price took third out of 13 runners in her section of the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line in 19:39.02. Senior Chrissy Haney won her heat in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.31, and finished third in the finals with a time of 9.24.
Sophomore Carli Lucke and junior Kyle Stewart both qualified for Saturday's final in the 200-meter dash with their preliminary times on Friday.
Both the Penn State National Invitational and the Bison Open will conclude with the second day of competition on Saturday.
